Visiting the office of Susty Party in Brooklyn. All woman-owned, both owners under 30, triple-bottom-line business. REALLY cool operation. They fed us fresh donuts and champagne. This is my job???
"END STOP AND FRISK: HANDS OFF THE KIDS"
once again i completely scheduled in my week and i am SO BUSY
i just found out today that my work is sending me to brooklyn tomorrow? which is actually awesome bc i’m basically getting paid to go on a roadtrip! but also BUSY bc the minute i get back i have a final planning sesh with caley, and then the next morning i have to clean the house and do an enormous grocery trip, and then i’m babysitting for the rest of the day, and the next day i get to hang out w joe for the morning/early afternoon and then i’m babysitting until 9, and then going out with my coworkers, and meanwhile my aunt and uncle and cousin are coming to visit for the whole weekend, and i have to wake up on saturday to work an event for the non-profit i help run, and then i’m going straight to work and working until 10:30, and then WAKING UP ON SUNDAY AND SPENDING 3 HOURS PREPARING FOR THE STATE DEBATE COMPETITION WITH MEGHAN OH MY GOD OH MY GOD THE BUSY FACTOR IS UNBELIEVABLE AND THEN FINALLY FINALLY sunday afternoon i have nothing and i’ll be able to get to all my backed-up emails and have mada-time and work in the garden
but to be honest, it’s all the good kind of busy and i’m mostly really proud of myself for being able to handle and actually enjoy being so busy
plus joe and i are going to get ice cream so i mean yeah life is pretty good
Outside, the waft of hyacinths
is material as rain.
Also there are rocky buds
on the ends of treebranches,
the detail too far away to be beautiful.
Also forsythia (yellowness).
Also the truck has come by to sweep
sand off the street.
In becoming alive, you have to notice
these things. Also
intentionally toe your shoes off
and walk into the grass.
Are you angry?
Also that, feeling that.
No one tells you that the killing
happens first, and later
you are alive.
You’re crying -
everything you couldn’t know.
And the ground.
Something is telling you it knows
what you gave
to get here.

my brother is finally able to walk again and he just got home from school, grabbed a frisbee, and walked out the front door to go to the park with his friend. small things that make me want to cry with love. one of those days.
I’m lying topless in the sun on the deck reading the fault in our stars and grinning irrepressibly
smoked salmon, feta, avocado, cayenne and sprouts on rice crackers
Today was my last appointment w my therapist for a month bc we’re both traveling
She is so supportive and inquisitive and caring
I’m going to miss her this month, but I’m at a place now where I’ll be 100% able to survive (and thrive, actually) without our weekly routine
I am so grateful for her I want to cry
